Choosing the right Gate & Barrier Systems

The gate is the first line of defence

A compound entrance is where access is won or lost. Automating it properly is about safety and integration as much as the motor itself.

Sliding or swing?

The gate type decides the operator. Sliding gates — the most common here — want a rack-driven operator rated for the gate weight with headroom. Swing gates want an articulated arm with soft start to protect the hinges.

Safety is the specification

Photocells, obstruction detection and soft start/stop are not optional extras; they are what stop a 1,200kg gate from becoming a liability. Every operator we install is interlocked with its safety inputs and tested on site.

Integration completes the system

A gate operator alone is a door. Wired to keypads, intercoms, ANPR and your access control system, it becomes part of the audit trail — who, when, and which vehicle.

What we install

Operators rated for the actual gate, full safety interlock, manual release for power loss, and integration with the rest of your access control — commissioned and documented.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about gate & barrier systems.

How heavy a gate can you automate?

Our sliding operators are rated to 1,200kg and swing operators to 500kg per leaf — with the rating always matched to the actual gate plus headroom.

What safety features are included?

Photocells, obstruction detection and soft start/stop as standard, interlocked and tested on site. These stop the gate before it harms a person, pet or vehicle.

What happens during a power cut?

Every operator has a manual release, so the gate can be opened and closed by hand until power returns. Battery-backed models keep it working through short outages.

Can the gate work with ANPR?

Yes — ANPR, intercoms, keypads, remotes and access control all connect to the operator, and every open cycle is logged.

Do you service existing gates?

We maintain anything we install for life, and we can bring existing operators up to spec with new safety interlocking and integration.
