Choosing the right NAS & Storage

Storage you set and forget

Retention is the part of a security system nobody thinks about until the moment they need footage. On-site NAS gives you the days — and the redundancy — that the moment demands.

Why on-site, not just cloud

Cloud archives are fine as a backup copy, but they are subject to bandwidth, subscription cost and a remote provider you do not control. A NAS keeps 30–90 days of footage on premises, in your hands, and still backs up to cloud if you want the second copy.

RAID is not backup — it is uptime

RAID keeps you recording through a drive failure instead of discovering the dead drive during an audit. RAID 1 for two bays, RAID 5 or 6 for four or more. Pair it with scheduled snapshots and an off-site copy for true protection.

Matching capacity to retention

4MP at H.265 ≈ 6–10GB/day per camera. Multiply by cameras and days, add 20% overhead, and you have the bay count and drive size — before you add file sharing and backups on top.

What we install

Sized, RAID-configured, network-isolated NAS appliances with monitoring, snapshots and scheduled backups — silent, cool and manageable from a browser.
